Set along the shores of The Wash, Hunstanton provides links golf at its very best with greens that are the envy of every self-respecting club in the land. For all the many fine courses that can be found in East Anglia, where the light soil is ideal for golf, Hunstanton outranks them all. This is reflected in the substantial number of men’s and women’s championships that have been held here. This is one of the most welcoming clubs we have experienced - a traditional out-and-back design, Hunstanton is certainly Open-calibre, reminding us of Royal Troon in Scotland. If they ever did hold the Open the course would likely be known as having the most demanding back nine on the rotation, especially when played into the prevailing breeze. The links has more than its share of intimidation characteristics, such as the yawning, cavernous bunker staring at you in front of the first tee, and another deep pit in front of the par-3 6th.
