.The Duke's course opened in 1976 closely followed by the Duchess course in 1978 but the Duke always suspected that the very best piece of land had not yet been used and for many years hoped to build a third course. The new Marquess course was officially opened in June 2000 and, designed with modern championship golf in mind, it quickly become known as one of the UK's top inland venues.The venue has an attachment to England golf in the same way Loch Lomond has to Scottish golf. Woburn will host the European Tour's newest event this year -The Heritage - where some of the golf's biggest names will be in attendance.
