West Hill Golf Club was founded in 1909 and designed by Cuthbert Butchart, the club's first professional and the man who designed West Byfleet, also in Surrey, and Royal County Down, one of the world's finest links golf courses, and is one of the well known group of classic heathland courses in Surrey. It has remained largely unaltered in layout but much work has gone into improving the conditioning of the course in recent years and, today, it is considered one of the best maintained golf courses in the country. The 15th is, quite simply, one of the finest short holes in the south of England, playing 212 yards from the tips to an undulating green. It comprises a harmonious blend of heather and mature trees to set up a lovely visual experience as well as superb golfing enjoyment. At just over 6350 yards the course is not long by present day standards but has bags of character & charm to compensate. As testimony to how well regarded West Hill is, it is now included in the top 100 courses in the British Isles.
