Kilspindie is the 35th oldest golf club in the world and, almost inevitably, is a traditional Scottish links. This is a real golfers club with a real clubhouse atmosphere, which is a refreshing change. It is certainly not a long course, though it still presents a worthy challenge to more gifted players. A number of holes border the shoreline creating wonderful views and a stiffer test to boot. Spray the ball in the wrong direction here and you'll be reaching into your bag for another ball. There are narrow fairways bounded by the sea and in summer there is heavy rough to add to the need for accuracy. There are also some strategically placed bunkers. There are a number of testing holes but perhaps the best hole on the course is the par 3 8th which overlooks Gosford Bay and demands a shot that will carry over the beach, which can be a challenge on a windy day!
