Set on a dramatic clifftop location with stunning views over St Andrews Bay and out to the North Sea, The Castle Course combines breathtaking beauty with wonderful golf.
Designed by leading Scottish course architect David McLay Kidd, The Castle Course sits on 220 acres of land, has more than one mile of waterfront and embraces the rugged Scottish shoreline to
provide a unique and exciting challenge. The Castle Course is the seventh course at the Home of Golf, capping an unparalleled history dating back six centuries to when the game was first played on the Old Course. With
written records of the site extending to the early medieval period, and with views overlooking the ancient town of St Andrews, The Castle Course has a
sense of history and romance to match its older siblings. Set against the historic skyline of St Andrews, The Castle Course will live long in the memory of any golfer.
From a land that was used as a hunting ground in Pictish times has emerged a stunning golf course with rolling fairways and undulating greens that crown the heaving landscape and the
rugged cliff line. With 110 acres of wild rough, the development of the course has encouraged wildlife to return to the area. Deer, birds of prey and partridge have been sighted on the land and ground—nesting birds
such as skylark and meadow pipit have made the rough grassland their home. Wildflowers adorn The Castle Course, with protected species such as primroses and maiden pinks. lt is fitting that
this natural beauty should be evident while playing an outdoor game that was originally developed on a track cut through Scottish heather and gorse.
