Cardiff is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the coolest cities in the UK - not only is it the Welsh capital but it's also home to the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Bay and the National Museum of Wales. Voted Britain's best city for shopping, Cardiff is a treasure trove of small Edwardian and Victorian arcades, picturesque among larger, modern developments, including the spectacular Millennium Stadium. Cardiff is a city of surprises which is probably why it’s fast becoming one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations.
In the centre of the city you’ll find brilliant shopping just a stone’s throw away from a fairytale castle, the famous Millennium Stadium and acres of lush parkland. Just a short walk or ride away is Cardiff Bay, where you can just while away a few hours over a meal on the waterfront, take in one of the many attractions or enjoy a show at the Wales Millennium Centre. The choice is yours.
As well as offering a whole host of things to see and do within the city, Cardiff makes a great base for playing golf as there are so many top courses, both links and parkland, on Cardiff’s doorstep. |

Radyr
With its magnificent views overlooking the City of Cardiff and the Bristol Channel beyond, Radyr has one of the most idyllic settings of any golf club in South Wales. Nestling in rural heathland its gentle undulations provide both members and visitors with a course which is a delight to the eye, yet which offers the sternest of challenges to golfers of all standards. At 6053 yards the layout of the course today has changed little from the original finalised by Colt of Sunningdale in 1915. Its greatest feature is the fact that every hole provides a separate and very different challenge and any golfer who has visions of 'taking it apart' is very quickly disillusioned. Wayward shots are invariably punished and the magnificent but testing greens will reward only the smoothest of putting strokes.

Creigiau
A warm welcome you at this beautiful well manicured parkland course set in a small village on the edge of Cardiff. Location: 7 miles north west of Cardiff, 2 miles from M4 Junction 34 and 2 miles from A4119. The course is easy to walk with many varieties of trees, several beautiful water features and boasts grass tees all year. The course is favoured by all visiting golfers due to the beautiful setting and challenging holes. In the winter months, the course is rarely closed, testament to the level of care that is lavished on the course by the members and green keeping team. The greens are always in excellent condition here and will test your game to the limit.

Southerndown
Originally designed by Willie Fernie in 1905 with later modifications by Herbert Fowler and Willie Park - and most recently by Donald Steel - Southerndown takes full advantage of its natural features. Undulating fairways and tight lies give the course a downland/links character. Bracken and gorse punish wayward shots and on windy days golfers need to negotiate the hazards with care. There are many longer courses, but few with a finer set of par-threes. Equally memorable are the closing holes, usually played into the wind. The 18th in particular with its intimidating gorse and renowned split-level fairway will live long in the memory. Overlooking the Ogmore Estuary and Porthcawl, Southerndown is a golf course of great natural feel, with crisp turf, rippling fairways, gorse and bracken everywhere and even sheep for companionship throughout your round !
