Golf in South East England
The South East is particularly famous for its tranquil and traditional English countryside and its historic cities - it's also famous for its pageantry and royal palaces, and, of course, breathtaking coastline where many of England's finest links courses take pride of place. For links golf the Kent coast is one of the hidden jewels of England. And they don't come any finer than at Royal St George's Golf Club. The stunning Kent golf links has hosted some of the most memorable Opens in living memory, including Greg Norman winning from Nick Faldo in 1993 and then 10 years later in 2003 when an unknown American, Ben Curtis, also from Kent, in Ohio, stunned the golfing world by lifting the Claret Jug.

You don't have to travel too far to play more classic links courses. Literally around the corner of the bay from Royal St George's lie two other courses which have hosted The Open before - Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and Prince's Golf Club. And just a few miles away near the historic town of Rye, you can play the wonderful links course at Rye Golf Club as well.

Golf in South West England

Golf in North West England
Welcome to the stunning coastal resort of Southport, England's Golf Coast and host to some of the finest Links courses in England. Southport is the home of Royal Birkdale Golf Club, which for many golfers, is quite simply, the best of all the classic links courses to have staged The Open Championship. The North West has all the essential ingredients for links golf - well-designed courses by some of the great architects, bordered by dunes and heathland with outstanding natural coastlines.

But Southport's reputation for being England's golfing Capital is not just based on Royal Birkdale it boasts another five championship standard courses within 15 minutes drive from the town centre and a sixth only half an hour away. Royal Liverpool Golf Club, which hosted the British Open in 2006 and Royal Lytham Golf Club are also within easy reach and 'must play' courses if visiting the area.
