  SUGGESTIONS
  To enhance your stay....

  Sightseeing

You can reach the centre of London within 30 minutes. Whether you want to simply soak up the history and visit Big Ben, the Tower of London or shop till you drop in Oxford Street, Covent Garden or Regent Street - the beauty of London is that it’s so easy to get around, by taxi, bus or on the underground. You might like to get a Bird’s Eye view of the capital from the London Eye, visit one of the countless museums or parks, do a sightseeing trip along the river and what better way to unwind afterwards than sit back and enjoy some stunning food at one of the many international restaurants and cafes. Cambridge is an easy drive away. For the visitor, there is a great deal to see and do, aside from touring the extensive campuses. There are museums, galleries and gardens; open air markets, boutiques and cafés, and for a really relaxing break, try punting on the serene River Cam. Lovers of the 'high Gothic fantasy' style of architecture will want to visit Knebworth, home to the Lytton family since 1490. You may recognize it and its 250 acres of gardens as the star in a number of movies. There's a Jacobean banqueting hall and a state drawing room among others on show.

  Theatre

London has the greatest variety of theatre and shows in the world. We can get you tickets for most productions, from the ballet and opera to the top West End musicals. This would make a fabulous night out for one of your evenings, perhaps combined with a sumptuous tea at The Ritz beforehand.

GOLF

Hanbury Manor

Harry Vardon originally laid out a nine-hole course in the majestic parkland grounds in the early 1900s, but it was Jack Nicklaus’s eldest son who brought the golf course back to life with the addition of nine new holes and the original Vardon parkland layout was completely revised. Nicklaus II has done a great job. He has used many of his father’s tricks of the trade and created an exciting golf course with double fairways and plenty of threatening water The course has hosted the English Open, from 1997 to 1999.

Moor Park

Located conveniently near to London, but sufficiently protected by mature trees to shield it from suburbia, the High course layout will provide a challenging test of golf in pleasant park surroundings. The clubhouse is an elegant 17th century mansion, the most photographed clubhouse in golf , perhaps with the exception of the R&A clubhouse at St Andrews.  Harry Colt designed the High course, opened in 1923, and it has hosted the PGA Matchplay Championship and the Bob Hope Classic. Moor Park oozes quality. It’s a classy golf course and a warm welcome awaits.

Ashridge

This enchanting course is set amongst thousands of acres of National Trust-owned woodland.  Par 3s are very strong here, with prominent bunkering providing clear definition. Accuracy, rather than length from the tee, will be rewarded and mistakes will invariably be punished.  At first glance, the greens appear fairly flat, but there are many subtle borrows, leaving you questioning your eyesight. The freshness of spring and the autumn colours at Ashridge are breathtaking. Keep an eye out for the deer. They have life membership and a habit of grazing to the right of the 17 th.

Wentworth West Course

A name synonymous with golf, Wentworth offers three inland championship golf courses and plays annual host to two of the most important events on the European Tour - the PGA Championship and the World Matchplay. Harry Colt designed both the East Course and West Course in the 1920's and although the East Course gained the early acclaim, the West Course was always considered to be the tougher test and it is this layout that is known and revered throughout the world.

St George's Hill Golf Club

St George's Hill is the prettiest of the many heathland courses on the Surrey/Berkshire sand belt and, in our opinion, one of the very best. In 1911, a local builder came up with an idea to build luxury fairway-side houses and by chance, Harry Colt was the chosen architect. The course opened in 1913 and is considered to be Colt's greatest work. The land sweeps and undulates like a rollercoaster, and the spectacular panorama from the front of the clubhouse, is one of those views that just grabs your attention.

The Berkshire

Other than the Berkshire, Sunningdale and Wentworth are the only clubs in the whole of the British Isles that can boast two heathland golf courses positioned in the top 100. Many people say that there is nothing better than a day’s golf amongst the forest, heather and springy turf of the Berkshire. The land was once royal hunting forest and dates back to the reign of Queen Anne. Each hole is played in seclusion, the mature sycamore, birch, chestnut and pine trees providing majestic fairway tunnels.

Sunningdale Old Course

Conveniently located less than thirty miles west of London, Sunningdale Golf Club is blessed with two magnificent golf courses, laid out on glorious pieces of heathland. The Old Course, originally designed by former Open Champion, Willie Park, is the more famous of the two but only gained the name "Old" when the New Course, designed by Harry Colt, was opened in 1923. Both courses wind their way through a sea of heather, gorse and pine, while each hole genuinely boasts its own unique character and charm.

The Grove

The Grove is one of the newest and most enterprising golf course projects in the British Isles.  Designed by Kyle Phillips, the course opened for play in 2003, and will host the American Express World Championships in 2006.. When you get out on the course itself, you immediately appreciate the quality and design.  The raised undulating greens are simply fantastic, very fast and very true. However, if you miss the green with your approach shot, you can be faced with some very tricky recovery chip shots. The fairways are thickly grassed and very lush.
