Stoke Park Club’s renowned 27-hole championship golf course, known as Stoke Poges, was designed by Harry Shapland Colt in 1908. Colt was arguably the greatest golf architect in history, having worked on over 250 of the best courses in the world. The Club’s signature hole, the par three seventh, was the inspiration for Colt’s partner, Alistair MacKenzie, when he designed Augusta National’s 12th hole at the formidable Amen Corner. Stoke Park Golf club is surely one of the finest parkland golf courses in the South of England. As famous as the majestic parkland golf course is the 18 th century mansion which was used as the setting for the golf scenes in the 1964 James Bond movie Goldfinger, in which 007 had his famous match with Goldfinger. |
