Marbella rose to prominence during the 80’s and has been considered the heart of the Costa del Sol ever since. One of the prettiest places is the fabled 'Orange Square' which is located just off the main street in the ‘Old town’ district and is also home to the 16th century town hall. The honeycomb of surrounding narrow streets where homes and shops intermingle to create the atmosphere of a small village, rather than the cosmopolitan town for which Marbella is famous, is incomparable. Numerous road side bistros, tapas bars and restaurants and to Marbella’s authentic feel, the nightlife is also wide ranging with a warm friendly atmosphere. |

The Marbella Golf and Country Club is located a short distance from the town of Marbella among the rolling hillsides of the Costa del Sol. Designed by Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1994 this rather hilly par 72 golf course winds its way between the olive groves that line several fairways. The fairways are generous and undulating with well placed bunkers ready to catch even the best struck tee shots, however the rough can prove very tricky. Having found the middle of the fairways you will be faced with approach shots that require the correct line and yardage, as the well contoured greens are small and surrounded be large bunkers. Several lakes and holes across gully’s and ravines have been incorporated into the design making Marbella a challenging and exciting course, which will be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities.

Situated on the edge of a luscious forest of pine trees and cork oaks, a few minutes outside the town of Marbella lays Santa Maria Golf Club, a traditionally designed golf course that runs through two valleys and offers a fair but challenging examination of golf. Santa Maria Golf Club holds a well-earned place amongst the elite golf clubs on the Costa del Sol, the golf course protects itself with carefully bunkered and tree-lined fairways to which you hit to from elevated tees, the beautiful rolling landscape follows the natural contours of the river bed that runs alongside the course. Finding the well protected and elevated greens with your approach shots is a little more tricky than may first appear and gauging the correct yardage is a must as the green are heavily contoured, making chipping or putting from long range a difficult challenge.

Rio Real Golf Course is one of the oldest courses in Marbella and it’s stood the test of time remarkably well as it’s still one of the best examinations of golf on the Costa del Sol. Situated in a beautiful valley between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains with a great variety of pines and palm trees.
The course is a traditional design with some tight driving holes which are lined with mature pines left and right, however there are lots of opportunities to open your shoulders on the par fives. The River, from where the course gets it’s name, which crosses the course several times comes into play immediately short of the green on more than one occasion proving equally as much a mental hazard! Although a tricky golf course in places there are many birdie opportunities if you can drive your ball in the fairway.

Los Naranjos Golf is a traditional style golf course located in Marbella’s golf valley. The course belongs to a select group of golf courses on the Costa del Sol designed by world famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones and was built at a time when suitable land was still available. A special Trent Jones Sr. trademark are the long “runway” tees that makes it possible to set up the course different from day to day, as well as wide fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards and large, undulated greens, where you are often faced with difficult shots into the greens with trouble never too far away.
Los Naranjos golf course a true championship course, with a number of important tournaments, both professional and amateur, been held at Los Naranjos over the years, including the 1989 Spanish PGA Championship.
